Council member Handy Miles, Jr.  Sworn in on July 16, 2019 as a Member of Hollywood Town Council focal point is to serve the people in the neighboring communities. Council member Miles, born and reared in St. Matthews, South Carolina relocated to Hollywood, South Carolina in 1999 and has been a lifelong resident ever since.  He LOVES the great people of the community and possesses a futuristic approach in elevating the town to another level.  

 Council member Miles is currently employed as a Director, School Guidance Counselor at Greg Mathis Charter School, specializing in academic achievements, transcripts, college application process, and ACT/SAT preparation, basic etiquette for employment opportunities, apprenticeships, and preparation for post-secondary plans. He is also an active and progressive member of the American School Counselor Association. He actively participates in various seminars/workshops that enhances youth/young adult advocacy. 

He takes pride in sharing his skillful talents and abilities as a tool for communicating and strategically planning through numerous leadership positions not limited to the following:

As an Entrepreneur, Council member Miles is a robust supporter of small and minority businesses. He’s a committed public servant with dedication to the Town of Hollywood.  

His educational background includes B.S. in Business Administration - Howard University, M.A.in Clinical Counseling -Webster University, and earned lifetime teaching credentials in School Counseling from The Citadel.

He’s married to the former Rhonda Smalls and together parents of three and grandparents to one. His hobbies include traveling, spending time with family and friends, reading and an avid football enthusiast.
